
RONALD McDonald House Charities' annual Ride For Sick Kids fundraiser saw 18 keen cyclists pedal from Inverell to Newcastle this month. Participants rode through Armidale, Tamworth, Scone and Singleton before crossing the finish line atJohn Hunter Children's Hospital.
The four-day trek raised more than $147,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW. The figure is expected to rise as the ride finishes up at the end of the month.
The Community Ride initiative invites residents to get involved in the two wheels, two goalsfundraiser. This sees riders set a dollar figure, and number of kilometers, that they wish to reach over the course of the Ride For Sick Kids fundraiser.
Ronald McDonald House Charities hope to reach their goal of $200,000 by the end of September, with all funds going toward providing a 'home away from home' for families wishing to stay close to their sick or injured child. Last year, the northern NSW arm of the charity gave families 7,750 nights of accommodation, allowing affected children to receive treatment in nearby hospitals. They thank supporters and the local community for getting involved.
