Newcastle fear Callum Wilson injury blow with striker set for a scan

Newcastle United have been rocked by a fresh injury blow after Callum Wilson limped off with a hamstring injury at Southampton.

Steve Bruce had already learned that Ryan Fraser was set to miss Scotland's international fixtures with a "small tear" but both could be missing for the next game against Chelsea at St James' Park when action resumes.

Bruce admitted he was upset by the "inconsistencies" of his side but when asked about Wilson's injury he said: "It's a hamstring and we don't know how bad it is yet.

"He needs a scan."

Fraser's injury could be more serious after he was hurt in training this week in the build-up to the game.

On Fraser he said: "Unfortunately, yesterday he came into the treatment room and wasn't happy.

"We then scanned it and revealed a small tear.

"He won't make the internationals."
