Newcastle fans vent takeover anger at Premier League with 'corrupt' chants at Rotherham

Newcastle United supporters directed their anger at the Premier League during their pre-season trip to Rotherham.

With 1,488 Geordie fans in attendance, they chanted: "The Premier League's corrupt" for long periods in the second half at the New York Stadium.

The Toon Army are furious that the Premier League are not only trying to get the anti-competition claim thrown out of court, with proceedings halted until at least late September, but also after the postponement of the arbitration case until "early 2022."

The situation has left willing buyers in Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund waiting on the sidelines after their £340million offer was neither passed or rejected last year.

United have been left in limbo during the summer window with the Magpies yet to make a cash signing and Steve Bruce admitting he must turn to loan deals.

Ashley was also targeted by some fans with a series of anti-ownership chants cascading from the away section.
