Newcastle fans send Derby County warning after Mike Ashley takeover links

Newcastle fans have issued words of warning to Derby County after former owner Mike Ashley was linked with a takeover at the club.

The Rams are currently bottom of the Championship after a 12 point deduction for entering administration, with further points deductions likely.

Relegation to League One seems almost certain, unless there's a dramatic turnaround at Pride Park.

Ashley is reportedly one of the parties interested in a takeover at Derby, with the former Magpies boss keen on maintaining a public front for his Sports Direct empire.

Newcastle fans have taken to social media to warn Derby County fans after a dismal 14 year ownership on Tyneside.

However, not all fans have criticised the potential move.

Derby face further penalties if their ownership situation is not resolved and a number of fans actually believe Ashley would be the perfect man for the job.

The former Magpies owner is now £300million better off after his sale of the club and could sustainably invest into the Rams to secure their future.

Peter Cattermole said: "He'd be ok as a lower division owner he has the money to compete for the title in the Championship and leagues below just couldn't compete with Premier League teams financially."
