Newcastle fans are all saying the same thing as Manchester United target Sean Longstaff returns for pre season

Manchester United transfer target Sean Longstaff sported a beaming grin as he arrived at Newcastle's training complex for the start of pre-season training on Thursday.

The 21-year-old midfielder gave a thumbs up to photographers prior to entering the building and linking back up with his Toon teammates at Darsley Park.

United hope to sign Longstaff in time for him to feature on the club's upcoming tour of Australia and Southeast Asia.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer  believes the young midfielder fits the mould  as part of the club's new recruitment drive to sign young British players and sources close to Longstaff have told the MEN they expect movement from United this week.

The MEN understands United had planned to sign Longstaff last month but negotiations with Crystal Palace over Aaron Wan-Bissaka dragged on longer than anticipated and the club prioritised concluding the £50million move.

Now the deal for Wan-Bissaka is over the line, though, United could move their focus onto Longstaff - and it's fair to say Newcastle fans aren't too enamoured by the idea of one of their brightest young prospects leaving the club.

Keep him by any means necessary!

Please stay.

It's the hope that kills you.

He can't be allowed to leave.

Local lad.

Shield him!
