Newcastle fans are all making the same point after Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley

Newcastle fans went home dejected from St. James' Park last night following a penalty shoot-out defeat to Premier League rivals Burnley.

Over 30,000 Magpies fans were in attendance as the Magpies failed to make their chances count and their torrid hoodoo against Premier League opposition in the trophy continues.

Steve Bruce said he was pleased with his side's performance overall, saying his side "didn't do much wrong" and "did not lose the game" despite being knocked out of the competition.

Fans were less than impressed with the manager's post match comments and made their feelings known on social media.

SherbyNUFC said: "Can somebody explain the idea behind cup competitions to this man please. Not losing in 90 mins doesn’t get you through the next round. Little less ‘watching’ and some influencing might prove useful."

Tommy Want said: "Surely not winning is doing something wrong."

'Two games into the Premier League'

'Every season'

'Not surprised anymore'
