Newcastle fans are all in agreement over their man of the match in Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester homecoming

Newcastle fans are almost unanimous in their vote for man of the match against Manchester United.

Around 65.8% of fans who voted in the Chronicle Live's poll believe that Miguel Almiron was the standout performer for the Magpies at Old Trafford.

There had been doubts over whether the Paraguayan would be able to play for Newcastle at the weekend after an ongoing coronavirus debate with South American countries, FIFA and the Premier League.

Nonetheless, Almiron was granted permission to play for Steve Bruce's side at Old Trafford, but was helpless as Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to kick start his second spell at the Red Devils.

It was another dismal afternoon for Bruce's side who are without a win in all competitions so far this season.

They've been rocked by the news that Callum Wilson could be out for six weeks, and their only goal at Old Trafford came from wing back Javier Manquillo.

The Spaniard was second in the poll for 9.6% of votes, with Joelinton and Sean Longstaff in joint third with 4.1%.

The Magpies will host fellow strugglers Leeds United at St. James Park on Friday with both sides looking for their first win in the Premier League.

Another defeat would pile more pressure on Bruce who angrily denied taking a holiday in the build-up to the Manchester United game.
