Newcastle fans are all in agreement after Premier League clubs vote to 'block' sponsorship deals

Newcastle United fans are all in agreement after Premier League clubs voted to temporarily ban commercial arrangements that involve pre-existing business relationships.

18 out of the 20 Premier League clubs voted for the motion with two standing in opposition, with Newcastle and Manchester City both voting against the motion.

Man City, whose Abu Dhabi-based owners have benefitted in the past from what are known as related party transactions, saw Etihad Airways sponsor the club - an Abu Dhabi-government owned business.

Newcastle fans have taken to social media to express their frustration over the temporary block with the large majority left unsurprised by the decision.

Here's what Magpies fans have had to say on social media:

@emmagregory23 tweeted: "I presume all of the other clubs with sponsorship deals linked to their owners will hand some money back too. This is absolutely disgusting behaviour. No problem when we're getting nowt from SD etc."

@JamieCharles21 said: "It's fine when it's one of the 'big six'. Getting petty now."

@NUFCHeron said: "I guess, if anything, all this nonsense and attempting to keep Newcastle chained should help us develop a siege mentality. It's time for Newcastle to regroup, and achieve victory through a strong defence."
