Newcastle linked with transfer raid on Manchester United, Juve 'offer Aaron Ramsey as Paul Pogba bait'

Welcome to the United On My Mind daily-round up, where we take a look at some of the most interesting Manchester United stories that you might have missed.

The list of names to be linked with freshly monied Newcastle United will stretch from St James' Park to Old Trafford soon enough, but there are apparently four United players being mulled over on Tyneside.

Juventus have never tried to hide their love for Paul Pogba since his return to United and are thought to be trying to entice the Reds into a deal by sending a former Premier League star in the other direction.

Meanwhile, there could be a loan move in prospect for another player who arrived in Manchester via Serie A.

Sheffield United 'eye Amad'

The Sheffield Star has reported that Championship side, Sheffield United are looking to bring in Amad in the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old winger was also of interest to the Blades during the summer transfer window. However, a deal between United and the Yorkshire club failed to materialise.

Amad joined United last October from Atalanta and has made three appearances in the Premier League. He was set to join Feyenoord on loan in August until injury scuppered those plans

With limited immediate playing time at Old Trafford in prospect, another temporary move to boost Amad's development being on the horizon would certainly be welcome.

Newcastle 'eye Reds quartet'

Newcastle's new Saudi ownership and the cash boost it will bring could fund up to four moves for Manchester United players.

The Mirror has reported that Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly are all on the club’s transfer wishlist for January.

The return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford has seen Martial fall down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order, although he did mark his return to the first XI with a goal in the 1-1 draw against Everton last time out.

It’s been a similar story with Van de Beek, who has struggled to replicate the form that persuaded United to snap him up from Ajax.

How quickly Newcastle can become competitive at the business end of the table is anyone's guess, but it is not difficult to see the appeal of a new challenge for the likes of Martial and Van de Beek.

Juventus 'still want Pogba back'

According to The Daily Mail, Juventus continue to be keen on bringing Pogba back to Turin.

Former Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey is reported to be being considered as a bargaining chip in a player-plus-cash deal.

Ramsey’s exit from Juventus seems almost certain over the coming months, adding another intriguing layer to the endless speculation around France star Pogba, whose United contract expires at the end of this season.
