Nottingham Forest are among a host of clubs to have been linked with a summer move for Oxford United captain Rob Dickie.
The 24-year-old defender is expected to leave Oxford on the back of their League One play-off final defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.
Forest have been credited with an interest in the highly-rated centre-back, along with Championship rivals Derby County, Brentford and Queens Park Rangers.
But Dickie is also said to be attracting interest from Premier League clubs, such as Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion, Fulham, Burnley and Southampton.
And now Newcastle United are reported to be weighing up a move for the £2million-rated player.
According to The Sun, boss Steve Bruce wants to bring in young British talent and the Magpies could make the first move for Dickie, "with budgets limited after the collapse of their takeover".
Forest have signed a defender this weekend with the arrival of former Reading and Manchester United man Tyler Blackett, who can play at left-back or centre-back.
The Reds have also signed striker Lyle Taylor and midfielder Jack Colback.
