Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.
Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily round.
Barkley Toon bound?
Bottom of the table, Newcastle are looking at bringing in Ross Barkley who has largely been warming up the Chelsea bench for the last couple of seasons.
Barkley joined Chelsea in 2018 from his boyhood club of Everton. Since then he’s seen his playing time deplete and spent the 20/21 season on loan to Aston Villa. According to The Telegraph, the English international is on the transfer list of Newcastle who will need to revamp and quickly.
Big money is likely to be spent under the reins of the new Saudi led ownership.
This comes after it’s been reported that the likes of Jesse Lingard, James Tarkowski and Kieran Trippier are also catching the eye of Newcastle for being possible transfers for the Magpies.
Our view: It’s such a shame it didn’t work out for Barkley at Chelsea and it doesn't look like he’s going to break through into Thomas Tuchel’s side any time soon. It would be best for both parties to let the player leave and find his football elsewhere.
Better contract beckons for Mendy
Football Insider have reported that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is set to be given a new and improved contract by Chelsea. The 29-year-old has cemented the number one spot away from Kepa Artizabalaga after he signed from Stade Rennes in 2020.
A Chelsea source has apparently told the outlet that Mendy who is a ‘low earner’ compared to the other players in the team will have his contract improved after his exploits for the Blues.

His current deal runs up until 2025 and the Senegalese international is set to have his wages increase - a reward for good form. But, the report also states that the offer may not be good enough compared to others and could be tempted away by other deals.
Our view: Oh Chelsea… can we sort out the Rudiger debacle with his contract first? Mendy deserves a better contract but tying down the futures of Christensen and Rudiger is more pressing surely?
Belgian youngster gushes about Chelsea
Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx 'dreams' of a move in the future to Chelsea and Real Madrid, according to German outlet BILD.
The 19-year-old has made eight appearances for the German side this season where three of which came in the Champions League.
Vranckx has emerged as one of Belgium's next big talents and has seemingly already taken inspiration from Eden Hazard's career pathway by eyeing moves to the English and Spanish capital's.
Our view: Years of success cause youngsters from all over the world to take an interest in the club and Chelsea and certainly reap the rewards of that.
While the idea of welcoming a highly-respected prospect to the club to build for the future, the Blues are in no position to sign a midfielder who will not be able to compete for starring roles next season.
With Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour returning to Stamford Bridge next season, Thomas Tuchel has more than enough options.
