Newcastle's array of electric vehicle chargers is growing as sales of the eco-friendly cars creep higher.
City of Newcastle and Port of Newcastle jointly funded a new charging station opened on Wednesday in Wharf Road, near Queens Wharf.
The two new 22-kilowatt chargers can power up four vehicles at a time.
The council unveiled a bank of three chargers at No.2 Sportsground and another charger opposite Newcastle Library last year.
It plans to open another charger in the Queen Street, Cooks Hill, car park this year.
The council has six electric vehicles in its fleet and the port has started switching its 14 models to electric power over two years.
Australian sales of electric and plug-in hybrid cars more than tripled in 2019 to 6718, according to Electric Vehicle Council data.
