Newcastle evening headlines as Yoshinori Muto nears exit amid Karl Darlow update

Here are your Newcastle United evening headlines on Sunday, August 1.

Japanese side could have provided Newcastle United a Yoshinori Muto solution

Newcastle United could have found a solution for Yoshinori Muto after reports in Japan suggested he is due to sign for Vissel Kobe.

Muto had been linked with a move to Greece with Aris Salonika but the those talks dried up.

With Newcastle telling Muto he is not part of the plans, as the club try to trim the wage bill, the Magpies have tried to agree a settlement on his £54,000 per week wages.

Scottish Premiership side Celtic have agreed a deal for Kyogo Furuhashi which would pave the way for Vissel Kobe to get Muto.

Newcastle United's Karl Darlow expected back in training this week as AFC Bournemouth wait for answer

Karl Darlow is expected back in training this week after recovering from Covid.

The Magpies have a behind closed doors friendly against Burnley on Tuesday and it remains to be seen whether Darlow takes any part in the clash in Lancashire against the Clarets.

If he does, that would see the debate on whether Freddie Woodman is allowed out on loan, with AFC Bournemouth keen, make a return.

Steve Bruce has indicated he must "protect the club" by maintaining adequate goalie cover in the first few months of the season with Martin Dubravka injured and how quickly Darlow recovers currently unclear.

But the delay could cost Woodman a move to Bournemouth with their first Championship fixture coming up on Friday night against West Bromwich Albion.

Were Darlow to recover in time, Bruce could opt to start him in Newcastle's Premier League opener against West Ham.

Newcastle United defender "touch and go" for start of the season after picking up fresh injury

Paul Dummett could be a doubt for Newcastle United's opening Premier League fixture of the season against West Ham United.

The Geordie defender was missing for the Magpies' 2-0 win over Burton Albion at Pirelli Stadium.

Steve Bruce could not guarantee he would be ready for the mid-August clash with the Hammers.

Bruce said: "Dummy, unfortunately, nicked a calf last week at Doncaster.

"That's a little bit of a concern. We'll see how that is.

"We don't think it's anything untoward.

"We think he'll be touch and go for the start of the season, unfortunately."
