Newcastle United offer "no comment" status after reports of a new contract for Steve Bruce
Newcastle United have responded with a "no comment" after fresh reports that Steve Bruce is set for a new three-year contract.
The subject of Bruce’s future was always going to return to the agenda on the back of two delayed court cases.
And with his current deal set to expire in May, the Daily Star are reporting Mike Ashley is ready to hand him a new contract.
At this stage, the club or those close to Ashley are yet to respond on the subject of Bruce’s future.
However, he stated last year he would never walk away from his current role as head coach.
Both Ashley and Bruce were the target of negative chants as Newcastle salvaged a draw at Rotherham on Tuesday night.

Newcastle United unveil new Castore away kit for 2021/22 season
Newcastle United have revealed their Castore away kit design for the upcoming 2021/22 season.
Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron and club captain Jamaal Lascelles were among the first-team stars to model the black and gold design for the club's launch on Friday morning.
The design is dominated by black and dark grey horizontal stripes with a white and gold collar. The strip does not feature the same grandad collar that was resurrected for the home kit in homage to Kevin Keegan's Entertainers in the 1990s.
United will also line up in black shorts and black socks with a gold turnover, but alternate gold shorts and socks will be available for matches in the event of a colour clash.

According to Mail Online, Newcastle are keen on a move for Angers' creative midfielder Angelo Fulgini.
The 24-year-old scored 10 goals from midfield last season and is a former France under-21 international.
However, Southampton, Everton, Monaco and Crystal Palace are also said to be monitoring his progress.
