Newcastle dressing room insider reveals how viral Jason Tindall storm has 'gone down a storm'

The bizarre social media spotlight on Newcastle United assistant Jason Tindall has 'gone down a storm' in the dressing room. That is according to Damien Delaney, with the former defender revealing how the first-team squad 'love' the jokes being levelled at the Magpies coach.

Tindall found himself the unlikely target of Twitter trolls in recent weeks, with an account dedicated to the former Bournemouth boss' perceived efforts to be the 'centre of attention'. The account racked up thousands of followers in a matter of days, with Eddie Howe himself being asked about his assistant's unexpected attention from social media.

Asked about the perhaps unwanted attention, Tindall insists he has 'thick skin' and believes 'jealousy' over Newcastle's meteoric rise may be behind the Twitter focus. Former Republic of Ireland defender Delaney spoke to a friend who works at the club about the episode, and was told how both the coach himself and the squad have both embraced the joke at the assistant's expense.

Delaney told the House of Football podcast: "I asked my friend who works at Newcastle and said what's the craic there? They went...they love it, the players.

"He's apparently such a great fella, he's taken it on the chin and he's playing up to it. It's a thing in the changing room where the lads are posting things on the wall, but by all accounts he's such a great character.

"It's gone down a storm in the changing room. He obviously gets ridiculed for it but he takes it really well and plays on it."
