Newcastle have denied that Allan Saint-Maximin broke quarantine rules during a supermarket trip on Thursday.

The Premier League club released a statement addressing the matter on Friday, the eve of their FA Cup third-round clash with Arsenal

“Following a request from the media, Newcastle United can confirm that Allan Saint-Maximin did not contravene any UK quarantine rules during a visit to a supermarket in Newcastle on Thursday evening,” the statement read.

“Allan will continue to adhere to all quarantine rules and Covid-19 guidelines and will follow return to training protocols.

“The club considers this matter closed and will not be issuing further comment.”

Newcastle are due to travel to Arsenal for a 17.30 GMT kick-off on Saturday.
