Newcastle United can call upon Jamaal Lascelles for the FA Cup third-round tie against Arsenal.
United boss Steve Bruce confirmed the massive injury boost during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon as he must now decide whether to hand the club captain a start.
Lascelles returned to training last month after being one of many players in the Newcastle squad to have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak that caused the Premier League clash against Aston Villa to be postponed.
The same applies to Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruce also had an update on the 23-year-old.
"Jamaal has been given the go-ahead by the doctors so it's now just about how he feels," Bruce revealed, as per the Chronicle.
"Allan has been out for 6 weeks or whatever so that's going to take time.
"I'm no doctor but there's so many symptoms and problems afterwards so it's been difficult."
Judging by those comments, it would appear that the central defender is more likely out of the pair to start on Saturday evening at the Emirates Stadium.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka set to start on what will be his first appearance of the season.
With that said, Bruce has confirmed that Jamal Lewis won't play because of a knee problem and Ryan Fraser is also set to sit out despite making good progress.
“Ryan Fraser has trained the last three days," Bruce added.
"We’re now going to give him another few days’ training, so he won’t be involved this weekend.
"But, he may be involved on Tuesday or in the league game at Arsenal, a week on Monday, certainly."
