Anzac Day, writers fest funding locked in

SUPPORTIVE: City of Newcastle RSL Sub-branch President Ken Fayle, trustee and director Stephen Finney, lord mayor Nuatali Nelmes and Newcastle Writers Festival director Rosemarie Milsom.

ANZAC services and the Newcastle Writers Festival have had City of Newcastle funding locked in for the next three years under an agreement.

The deal locks in $40,000 a year for the writers festival, including allowing events to be held in the library and City Hall.

The funding is contingent on the festival keeping at least 40 per cent of its events free to the public.

Also, $75,000 will support the Nobbys dawn service, the Anzac Day march and a Civic Park service from 2020.
