Newcastle council clears damaged trees from Stockton waterfront

City of Newcastle has cleared damaged trees on Stockton's waterfront in another blow for the sea-battered suburb.

A council spokesperson said trees skirting Stockton Holiday Park had been undermined by large swells late last month.

"Several smaller trees that fell onto the beach and others at risk of falling have had to be removed," the council said.

"In total, 12 small trees and shrubs are being removed.

"Some stumps and roots are being left in place to keep the dune stable, as planning begins on revegetating the stretch between the beach and holiday park."
