Newcastle are closing in on a deal for Queen’s Park star kid Reagan Thomson.
The Premiership side have opened talks with the Spiders in a bid to strike a deal for their Scotland Under-17 cap.
The Geordies are on the verge of agreeing a substantial fee for the 16-year-old that will see him move to St James’ Park in January.
Newcastle and other top English clubs, along with Rangers and Celtic, watched the midfielder star for Scotland Under-17s in last week’s win against Iceland where he came up with two assists.
He started against Croatia last night with Scotland reaching the next stage despite a 2-1 defeat.
Queen’s amateur status means they don’t normally command transfer fees but because Thomson is still a youth player they would be entitled to compensation.
