Newcastle brewery opens new taproom ahead of big birthday bash

A new taproom and beer garden will be opening in Newcastle just in time for the weekend and bookings to be among the first to enjoy craft ales and food there are now open.

Almasty Brewing Co. has announced the latest development for its new city site which will launch at noon on Friday and showcase a range of the brewery's beers in kegs, casks and cans throughout the day and also on Saturday.

The brewery at Benfield Business Park has also teamed up with BBQ and grill favourites Smoke and Sear which will be serving up charcoal-fired food at what will be a family-friendly affair. Dogs are welcome too.

Tables can be pre-booked and while walk-ins are welcome they can not be guaranteed a table without advance notice.

The brewery is all geared up to be Covid-19 secure and there will be a one-way system for guests to follow, hand sanitisers and staff in PPE.

There will be table service, with tables spaced two metres apart, and payment will be contactless only.

The two-day opening event on July 24-25 will be a 'soft launch' for the taproom ahead of a birthday party the following weekend to mark Almasty's sixth birthday.

Tickets, £8, can be pre-booked here and a deposit will be asked for which then will be taken off the bill. Food from Smoke and Sear, which was formerly known as Shanty Town, also can be pre-ordered here.

Tickets for the birthday party, which will run from 1pm-9pm on Saturday, August 1, are also priced £8 and can be bought here.
