Newcastle Beachwatch: Wednesday, September 23, 2020

SKILLS: Darren Shone glides across a wave on Tuesday. Picture: Dave Anderson

BEACH WATCH

Strong offshore winds for today which will keep the conditions clean but may knock the swell down. Best to surf around the lower tides as the high is filling most breaks to some degree. Swell from the East to S/E at around 1m. Wind out of the N/W to West. Early morning low tide to suit the banks at Bar Beach, Cliff, Pogos and Merewether. On the high tide try Bar Reef. Dudley, Redhead and Frenchmans to the south. Buribi and Samurai up at Port Stephens. Run out tide for late surf. Waters clean and clear in for a swim and try to stay between the flags at patrolled beaches. Water temp 18C. - Dave Anderson

HUNTER BOATING

Winds Westerly 15 to 25 knots, reaching up to 30 knots offshore in the evening.

Seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres during the morning.

Swell Northeasterly 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to around 1 metre during the morning.

Weather Sunny.
