Peaky conditions as we see a combo swell with some east in its direction. Wind may be onshore early but should swing around to offshore during the afternoon. Swell from the east and south at 1.5m. Wind out of the northeast to north and freshening. Tides shallow first up and the shorebreaks at Dixon and Pogos handling direction best; Newcastle Beach off the alley; Redhead, Frenchmans and Moonie to the south; Birubi and One Mile up at Port Stephens. Strong sweeps in southern corners causing Merewether Beach to close and heavy shorebreaks on high tide. Water temp 19C. - Dave Anderson
