Newcastle Beachwatch: Thursday, October 22, 2020

CHOPPY: Ben Hainsworth on a shorebreak on Wednesday. Picture: Dave Anderson

BEACH WATCH

Small and choppy conditions again for today with N/E winds getting up early. No increase in swell just a change in direction which will suit some of the north facing beaches that have shorebreaks. Swell from the East to S/E at 0.5m to 1m. Wind moderate North to N/E. Not much quality if going in for an early surf. Try Newcastle beach off the Divider and Merewether off the middles. Slightly cleaner at Redhead, Frenchmans and north Catho down the coast. Buribi and Treachery to the north. Waters clean and clear in with slight sweeps in southern corners. Water temp 19C. - Dave Anderson

HUNTER BOATING

Winds Northeasterly 15 to 20 knots.

Seas 1 to 1.5 metres.

Swell Southerly below 1 metre.

Weather Partly cloudy. The chance of a thunderstorm inshore in the afternoon.
