BEACH WATCH

Strong offshore winds will keep surf small before an increase from the south for Sunday. Plenty out at all beaches so make sure you just surf then leave and keep distance in line ups. Swell from East 1m tending South 1 to 1.5m. Wind freshening N/W to West shifting S/W late. Early low tide suiting the banks off Newcastle Beach, South Bar, Cliff and Pogos. Bar Reef and Cowrie on the high tide. Burwood is popular and to the south try Redhead and Frenchmans. One Mile and Samurai up at Port Stephens. Big south swell due for Sunday though wind to go onshore. Swim at own risk and dangerous conditions on rocks. Water temp 20C. - Dave Anderson

Winds Northwesterly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 25 knots offshore south of Norah Head in the late evening.

Seas Below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore.

Swell Southerly below 1 metre.
