Newcastle bar Tiger Tiger hosts Mojito Festival this Bank Holiday as one of its last-ever events

Party bar Tiger Tiger is hosting a Mojito Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend as part of its final programme of events.

The Newcastle restaurant-bar, which opened near The Gate nearly 20 years ago, will been closing under its familiar name this summer, having been bought by leisure outfit Deltic Group.

And the new owner's plan is to reopen it as a new botanical-theme concept called Eden which will operate all day, hosting the likes of bottomless brunches, daytime events and cocktails then morphing in the later hours into a late night club.

Described as a "floral wonderland and playground of sensory delights”, its Garden of Eden theme will include private dining areas called Adam’s Allotment; Eve’s Florist and the Serpent’s Secret Garden.

But first Tiger Tiger fans will be able to live out the original bar's final days and its Bank Holiday Mojito Festival, running from May 24-26, promises to be a real celebration of summer.

There will be two-for-one mojitos all weekend, with new flavour twists on the famous cocktail and a mix-and-match offer for a "perfect summer duo, said the bar.

There also will be a happy hour from 5pm until 10pm; live DJ sets and an ice lolly giveaway.

Then, in a final hurrah for the bar, an upcoming weekend of closing parties will offer a last chance for revellers to say farewell.

The parties will take place on May 31 and June 1 - with the bar's well-known VIP experience also being made available for a last time - and they are set to see Tiger Tiger off in style.

Anyone wanting to book a final-chance VIP ticket can call  0191 235 7065. For more about the remaining events see here .
