Newcastle bar Sgt Peppers reveals when its finally re-opening after lockdown and the first song

It's one of Newcastle's 'hidden gems' and a place many Geordie have had at least one visit to and Sgt Peppers has revealed whenit's re-opening after months of being shut.

Like every other bar and pub in the city, the Vine Lane haunt closed its doors on Government orders in the middle of March as coronavirus spread across the UK.

And, while other Newcastle venues have now been re-open for close to two months, after welcoming customers back since the start of July, Sgt Peppers has remained closed.

That is, until now as on Saturday morning the city centre bar posted on its Facebook page to tell its thousands of followers that it was re-opening in a matter of hours with DJ Scarlett on the decks from 6pm.

In the past week, Sgt Peppers have strongly hinted that it will be open Thursday to Sunday for the foreseeable, with no table bookings.

Throughout lockdown admins have been asking people what song people want played when they return to the mecca of all things cheese and nostalgia.

And if you're in the vicinity of Northumberland Street and fancy a swift drink, the song that will be first out of the speakers is Billy Ocean classic Red Light Spells Danger - great choice guys!

Lockdown came months after Sgt Peppers re-opened after an extensive makeover but rest assured, while some things have changed, its potent Pink Lady cocktail is still on the menu!

Regulars will notice is the new carpet and new gents' ladies' toilet facilities while out of sight is a revamped cellar and new equipment behind the pumps which also added Guinness on draught for the first time.
