Newcastle bar Cosy Joes to open seven days a week after being shut for 16 months

Get your best karaoke song lined up as, after 16 months of being closed, popular Newcastle bar Cosy Joes will finally re-open later this month.

Like many other venues in the city and across the country, the Groat Market party spot has had an incredibly tough time over the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A place where many Geordies often end up, even if they don't plan to, Cosys has rightly established itself as a firm favourite with locals, as well as many stag and hen parties who celebrate in the city.

Classic tracks like Red Light Spells Danger, Love Really Hurts Without You, Black Velvet and of course Sweet Caroline are part of the furniture, whether they are being played by a DJ or being belted out by a karaoke singer on stage.

Revellers have been gutted by a lack of Cosy Joes action over the past 16 months but now, after last opening in March 2020, owners have announced that the two storey bar will be open for business again on the day that restrictions are set to ease for good - Monday, July 19.

And it gets better as Cosys have revealed that, rather than just being open a few days a week, it will be open every day of that week as they promise 'the biggest party on the planet.'

As you'd probably expect from people chomping at the bit to get their Cosy Joes fix after so long away, interest in its re-opening announcement has been huge.

Reacting to the news, one regular posted: "this is not a drill" and another wrote: "Woohoo"

As well as both floors re-opening on July 19, Cosy Joes are also taking bookings for their private karaoke pods. They can be booked by emailing lisa@cosyjoes.co.uk or telephoning 0191 232 2234.
