It's been a long time since Newcastle United's name has been put in the same sentence as the Premier League title.
And given their current on-field situation has them scrapping for survival, it wouldn’t too much sense to link them closely with the division's top prize.
But after their astonishing £300 million takeover in October, followed by the appointment of Eddie Howe as manager and an exciting January transfer window, fortunes have quickly changed around St. James’ Park.
The Magpies are currently in the thick of a relegation battle as they desperately fight to obtain their top flight status ahead of next season.
Yet it is the ambition of the new owners to make the Magpies the best club in the world that has convinced former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy that they are more likely to win a Premier League title before Manchester United.
Do you agree that Newcastle have a better chance of winning the Premier League before Man Utd? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy claims that Newcastle ’s superb recruitment in January already puts them ahead of the Red Devils in their commitment to achieving domestic glory.
When asked who his favourite is to win the title next out of the two clubs, he said: “I’d probably go Newcastle. I think I would.
“Look at what Man City have done with their millions, look at what Chelsea have done with their millions.
“Neither of those clubs are in it to make money. Chelsea and Man City's models are about glory, not pound notes.
“Manchester United, right now, their priority isn't necessarily [glory], it’s about pound notes.
“Newcastle will spend whatever they like. Manchester United, under the Glazers, have been known to watch their pennies.
“It’s all about recruitment and Newcastle’s, in this situation, has been superb.”
The Red Devils haven’t won the league since 2013 and were highly backed to mount a serious challenge this season, but have once again come up short in their efforts.

And following Newcastle’s superb recruitment to sign the likes of Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes just to get out of trouble this season, there is a strong belief that things will only get better in the summer.
There is the impression that the new owners at St. James’ Park are determined to go to any length to achieve success on the pitch and have made clear their lofty ambitions for the club.
In comparison, Man Utd have somewhat stagnated in recent years and haven’t shown quite the same ambition in doing whatever it takes to establish dominance.

And former West Ham United and Man City winger Trevor Sinclair agreed with Cundy’s comments and feels that United show no signs of winning a title anytime soon.
He told talkSPORT: “I think there is a good argument to say Newcastle will get it right before Man United.
“United have had nine years to have a run at this and they’re still nowhere near.
“Whereas Newcastle, if they get it right, could quite easily win the title before Man United.”
