Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Emil Krafth from French club Amiens.
The Sweden international has agreed personal terms and is due for a medical at the club according to sources in his home country of Sweden.
The Chronicle were first to report on United’s interest on July 25 .
Steve Bruce has been in the market for a new right-back and is hoping to get one or two more deals through the door before deadline day.
When asked if more recruitment is dependent on players leaving Newcastle at yesterday's Premier League launch event for broadcast partners, Bruce said: "No. We are still hopeful that we have one or two things up our sleeve. I hope we are not finished (in the transfer market).
"We will know a little bit more in the next 24 hours. I would envisage we still have one or two bits still to do."
