Newcastle and Sunderland among the UK's top 10 cheapest cities to eat out

By Mike Kelly

Good news for North East diners as new research has revealed Newcastle and Sunderland are among the top 10 cheapest cities in the UK to eat out.

It was carried out by professional kitchen experts Maxima Kitchen Equipment which analysed the cities in the UK with a population higher than 100,000 and used cost of living data to find where Brits can dine out at the lowest cost.

The analysis, based on two people dining, looked at the average cost of a meal at an inexpensive restaurant, a three-course meal at an Italian restaurant, a lunchtime meal and a pub meal. They were then all added up to reach an overall average cost.
