Newcastle Airport to remain open during Queen's funeral on Monday

Newcastle International Airport has issued a message to passengers set to travel on the day of the Queen's funeral.

The airport has confirmed that it will be operating as normal on Monday, September 19, however, it will still mark the historic Bank Holiday by paying tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Passengers have been advised that there should be no disruption to their travel plans, with the airport also confirming that the majority of food and beverage outlets in the terminal will be open.

But staff and passengers will be able to take part in the national two-minute silence following the sound of the Last Post at 11.55am.

"The airport will also participate in the national two-minute silence on the day of Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral, Monday, September 19 following the sound of the Last Post at 11.55am.

"As people will be travelling on Monday, September 19 and the airport will be operational, the majority of food and beverage outlets in the terminal will be open so that we can provide an appropriate level of service."
