Newcastle Airport Mother's Day breaks at prices which prove a gift

Those wanting to splash out this Mother's Day could set their mams' heart soaring with a surprise flight and city break.

And  online travel agent eDreams has drawn up a list of potential destinations from Newcastle Airport costing around £300-£600 for two.

It has compiled what it days are the best value European city breaks to Paris; Amsterdam; Dublin and Copenhagen, saying: "If you're looking to go the extra mile this Mother's Day , why not go a few thousand."

And it says last minute deals can offer great value, with the likes of flights to Dublin and Barcelona costing under £200.

Here are its suggestions for four cities to enjoy with your mam this Mother's Day.

Dublin

The Irish capital features the renowned Temple Bar area and the rooftop bar at The Marker Hotel. Direct flights from Newcastle for two were found costing from £317.98 (single flight £158.99). See Ryanair for further potential reductions.

Barcelona

The Spanish hotspot on the Balearic Ses offers beach strolls; sangria; tapas and a walking tour of the Gaudí sights.

Paris

The capital of France is famous for its cuisine ranging from patisseries to Michelin-star restaurants.

Amsterdam

The Netherlands city famed for its architecture, canals and galleries offers plenty to explore with your mam.

The travel company, which also recently found that Friday tends to be the cheapest day of the week to book a flight, points out that the prices - based on direct flight bookings made earlier this March on eDreams ODIGEO websites earlier for travel from March 29-31 - are always subject to change, with Dublin reducing to £63.99 - see here - and Barcelona also said to be reducing in price and Paris and Amsterdam returns currently becoming more expensive.

Further fluctuations are expected during the next week.
