Newcastle agree deal to sell Dan Barlaser - but with a clause in the transfer

Newcastle United have agreed to sell Academy product Dan Barlaser - but the club have agreed a huge resale clause for the midfielder with Rotherham United.

Indeed the Magpies could earn 50% of any future fee for the 23-year-old if he continues to be a success with the Millers.

Toon boss Steve Bruce agreed to the sale with a heavy heart but could not even guarantee Barlaser a squad number.

The midfielder leaves with his good relationship with Bruce in tact and the deal will go through subject to a medical.

It was also agreed internally that with Barlaser set to reach his 24th birthday in January, a loan deal would not have suited either Newcastle or the player himself.

Barlaser had several options to move but decided to go back to Rotherham due to his relationship with Paul Warne.

Having helped the Millers to promotion last term, Barlaser now gets a crack to ply his trade as a first team regular in the Sky Bet Championship.

The exit of Barlaser trims down the squad at United with Rolando Aarons, Achraf Lazaar and Henri Saivet also told to find new clubs before the window shuts.
