A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run in Newbridge, Co Kildare yesterday.
The shocking incident happened at around 8pm when a woman was found on Thomas Street with serious injuries.
Sadly, she was pronounced dead a short time later after being rushed to Naas General Hospital.
The man, in his 50s, is currently being held at Kildare Garda Station and gardai have once again called for any witnesses to come forward.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating a suspected fatal hit and run road traffic collision that occurred in Newbridge, County Kildare on Monday, 9th November, 2020, have arrested a man in his 50s in connection with this incident.
"The man is currently detained at Kildare Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"Investigations are ongoing.
"Gardaí at Newbridge are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward and for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045-431212, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
