Newborn cygnet seriously injured after cruel jogger kicks it out of his way in Richmond Park

A newborn cygnet has been left seriously injured after a jogger kicked it out of his way in Richmond Park.

Appealing for information, Royal Parks Police said the incident occurred around 5.30pm on Monday at Pen Ponds.

"A jogger kicked a newborn cygnet out of his way instead of going around," police said in a Twitter post.

"Unfortunately it's not looking good for the cygnet."

The animal is currently being cared for by the Swan Sanctuary, police said.

The suspect has been described as a white man in his 60s, with grey hair, who is 5ft 6 inches.

He was wearing black running shorts and a vest.
