Newborn baby girl dies in hospital after being rushed from home seriously ill

A newborn baby died in hospital after being taken seriously ill at her home.

The seven-week-old girl suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday morning, police said.

She was transported by ambulance to hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead later the same morning, reports Birmingham Live.

West Midlands Police officers attended the address after a call from paramedics at 6.40am.

A statement from West Midlands Police read: "We received a call from ambulance colleagues at 6.40am October 23 who were with a baby at an address in Weoley Castle, who had stopped breathing.

"It's believed the girl had suffered a cardiac arrest.

"The baby, understood to be seven-weeks old, was taken to hospital but sadly pronounced dead later that morning.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."
