Newark school releases statement after death of 'much loved' Year 13 pupil

A secondary school in Newark says it has been informed of the death of a "much loved and admired" Year 13 student.

A statement was released by Magnus Church of England Academy, located on Earp Avenue.

They say they are providing pastoral care to those who need it and offer their sympathies to the student's family and friends.

The school has confirmed the death is not Covid-related, instead an "unrelated and tragic loss of life".

A spokesperson for Magnus Chruch of England Academy said: "We have been informed of the death of a much loved and admired year 13 Magnus student.

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends at this difficult time.

"As a school community, we will ensure that support and pastoral care is available to all following this tragic news.

"We respectfully ask that the family and friends are given their privacy at this time.

"At this stage we are able to confirm that this was not Covid-related, but an unrelated and tragic loss of a young person’s life."
