Newark pub set to close for a month as it undergoes major revamp

A pub in Newark will close for a month while it undergoes a major refurbishment. The Lord Ted in Farndon Road will be shut from Monday, October 31, through to Monday, November 28.

Improvements have already been made to the garden of the Greene King pub, providing four covered and heated tables outside. There's also a new covered area with a large screen TV. As part of the revamp, the outside area will be further enhanced and provide guests with even better viewing and audio facilities.

New carpets, furniture and furnishings will be added inside. And the colour scheme will be changed. The bar area is being expanded to make improvements for customers watching sports on TV. The restaurant area is being modernised to create a brighter and more modern setting for customers.

The sports area will have a new sound system fitted with a total of seven screens. This will allow customers to watch all the live sporting action seven days a week.

Simon Keane, general manager of the Lord Ted, said: “This year is a big year for the Lord Ted, as we’re celebrating two special anniversaries. Not only are we celebrating the pubs 25th year since it was built, but we are also celebrating our 5th birthday as a pub and carvery, of which we were one of the first.

“The timings of these renovations are very fitting and will further enhance our live sport and dining offering to guests. We can’t wait to welcome back our regulars and new customers to enjoy their new and improved surroundings.”
