WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Manufacturing activity in New Zealand expanded in December to its highest level of overall activity since April, a survey showed on Friday.
The Bank of New Zealand-Business NZ's seasonally adjusted Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI) in December rose to 55.1, an increase of 1.4 points from November.
A reading above 50 indicates an expansion in activity, while anything below that threshold indicates a contraction.
BusinessNZ's executive director for manufacturing Catherine Beard said that the December result ensured activity over 2018 kept ahead of the long-term results for the sector.
