New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern sends lovely reply to letter from Irish girl

An 11-year-old Irish schoolgirl got a big surprise when she received a reply to a letter she sent to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.

During the first lockdown, Lily sent the letter to Ardern as part of a school project which required her to write to a leader.

Lily's father, Philp Bromwell, posted the heartwarming reply on social media and explained how it came to pass.

"During the first lockdown last spring, our then 11-year-old had to write a letter to a leader for school. She chose Jacinda Ardern. Well, after “a busy few months” (!) for the NZ PM, Lily was delighted to get a personal reply! Great at leading, lockdowns & letters."

Mr Bromwell is a journalist and the Digital Native Content Editor at RTÉ News. Well, it appears that his daughter also has a gift with words after Ardern replied to her letter by saying:

Dear Lily,

Thank you so much for your letter. I'm so sorry it has taken a while to get back to you, it's been a busy few months, unfortunately.

I appreciate you taking the time to write - your kind words meant a lot and they really brightened up my day.

I hope you and your family are staying safe in Ireland, please pass on my best wishes to them. Thanks for writing, Lily.

Kindest regards,

Jacinda Ardern.

For those that might wonder if Mrs Ardern actually took the time to reply or of it was an aide, she even signed the letter herself.

A very nice touch.
