New Zealand job ads rise 0.9 percent in October - ANZ survey

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Job advertisements in New Zealand rose 0.9 percent in October as growth slowed on an annual basis, a survey by ANZ Bank showed on Thursday.

Annual growth eased for the ninth month in a row to 8.9 percent, down from 9.3 percent the previous month.

"Job ads are high but are levelling off as the business cycle matures and the country navigates a myriad of changes in the business environment," ANZ economists said in a statement accompanying the release.

Political uncertainty under the new leftwing Labour government, which took the helm this month, was one factor that could lead to businesses easing back on hiring in future months, according to ANZ economists.
