Consumer confidence in New Zealand edged back in the first quarter of the year and remains at below average levels, a survey showed on Monday.
The Westpac-McDermott Miller consumer confidence index slipped to 105.2 in the March quarter from 106.0 in the previous quarter. A reading above 100 indicates more optimists than pessimists.
The survey indicated that while households are feeling more secure about their personal financial situation, they are continuing to highlight concerns about the economy’s longer run trajectory.
