WELLINGTON (Reuters) - The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) will announce its final decision on a proposal to increase the amount of capital banks must hold on Dec. 5, the bank said in an email.

The capital requirement proposal requires the country's top banks to boost their capital ratios to 16% over five years to reduce the risks in case of a major financial shock.

RBNZ last month released reports by three independent experts who have given their views on the proposal.
