It is known that the New York Times is planning to introduce a slimmer broadsheet format in 2008, but it appears to be having even more revolutionary thoughts. Executive editor Bill Keller has let slip that the paper is working on a tabloid "prototype"... "aimed at younger readers". When pushed, he replied: "It's way too early to talk about it. It's one of many projects that are still in the noodling stage." Keller also said that the new publication could be distributed either inside the paper or on its own. So it's clearly a proper project. How about that? (Via New York Observer)
