New York tabloids had a field day with Mets manager Mickey Callaway cursing at reporter

The mess in New York with the Mets took an even worse turn on Sunday with the news that manager Mickey Callaway got into a verbal spat with a reporter and that pitcher Jason Vargas threatened to knock out the journalist.

The franchise issued a statement after the incident in which the Mets said they “sincerely regret the incident” and that “We do not condone this type of behavior from any employee.” But of course the confrontation became fodder for the New York tabloids and their covers.

Here’s how the Daily News dealt with it on its cover Monday morning: “Mickey Mouth Club.”
