New York’s top lawyer probes WeWork founder and chief executive Adam Neumann

The New York State Attorney General has stepped in to investigate WeWork founder and former chief executive Adam Neumann.

The investigation from the office of Attorney General Letitia James, below, surrounds whether Neumann, right, had borrowed against his WeWork shares to enrich himself and leased properties he owned back to the company. He also planned to charge WeWork almost $6 million to use his trademark of the word “We” after the company rebranded itself The We Company, Reuters reported.

The company shelved its plans for an IPO in September after investors grew wary of its losses.
