New York rapper Joey Bada$$ name checks Glasgow on new track

It's the house that ABBA built back in 1980 via pop mega-hit Super Trouper.

What are we talking about? Well, mentions of Glasgow in a song of course.

Now that house has just got a fresh lick of paint thanks to New York rapper Joey Bada$$.

The Brooklyn-born multifaceted artist, actor and producer released new three-track EP The Light Pack yesterday - his first proper project since 2017’s All-Amerikkkan Badass.

On new track 'The Light', Bada$$, who has nearly 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 1.9 million Instagram followers, raps: "I'm bout to blackout, I never back out unless we talk or bringin' gats out.

"And every show is packed out, we bringin' cats out from South Africa to Glasgow."

Unfortunately for Glaswegian fans of the rapper, he makes the error of pronouncing Glasgow like Americans normally pronounce Moscow - with an 'ow' as in 'cow'.

But that doesn't seem to have bothered some of the ones who have taken to Twitter to express their surprise at hearing him name check the city on listening to the track.

One fan wrote: "Did not expect to wake up to a Glasgow reference in the new Joey Bada$$ record".

While another tweeted: "Joey shouting out Glasgow let’s goooo".

Joey Bada$$ has performed in Glasgow before, at The Garage back in both 2014 and 2015.

So perhaps his fond memories of both shows influenced his reason to give the city a shoutout.
