New York police officer who ‘hit’ man in social distancing arrest loses badge

A New York police officer caught on video pointing a stun gun at a man and grappling him to the ground over an alleged social distancing violation has been stripped of his badge.

A bystander filmed the plain-clothes officer slapping Donni Wright, 33, in the face, punching his shoulder and dragging him to a pavement in Manhattan’s East Village.

The officer was stripped of his badge and has been placed on desk duty pending an internal investigation.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said there will be “a careful look at what happened there.”
