A 16-year-old boy in New York City has been arrested after a video surfaced of him punching a nine-year-old and screaming at him.
The incident took place in the Albany Houses of the New York City Housing Authority, in Brooklyn. In a video, the teenager shouts “give me candy” and slams the child’s head into the wall.
The nine-year-old escaped and reported the incident to his mother.
The video was posted online, and the public has helped the New York Police Department identify the suspect.
The NYPD is not releasing his name because he is a minor.
However, they stated that the suspect was frequently in trouble.
“It wasn’t difficult to identify him and he was picked up and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child,” the Associated Press reported
The video was viewed 60,000 times within two hours on Instagram, but has now been taken down. NYPD Chief Dermot Shea sent a tweet thanking the public for their help and assuring them that the suspect has been apprehended.
